Erica Goes to Film School: Continued

Hello and welcome to my page! I am Erica Avery, and I would like to take this time to thank you for stopping by once again.

Currently, I am enrolled in my second year at Tribeca's 18 month Film and Broadcast program, with a focus in Film Production. My goal is to become a producer and eventually start my own production company.

Thus far, your belief in my dream has propelled me to incredible heights. I promise that I will finish strong and make all of you proud. With that being said, I need your help once again to make this dream a continued reality.

Over the past year, I wrote, directed, and edited my first film about a semi-autobiographical experience. I produced several projects, some big and some small.

I was a Production Assistant on several second year projects. I also made friends with some of the coolest, craziest, smartest people, I have ever met.

I raised $23,000 with the help of people like you, my amazing sister Desney, and my good friend E.M.J.. I worked extremely hard in my classes, achieving a 3.74 GPA. I was also invited to speak to TFA's Board of Directors because I was viewed as a leader on campus.

In addition, I had The Erica Goes to Film School: The Live Screening event, where friends, family, and supporters watched my first film come to life on the big screen.

That was a good night. :) With all of these highs, there have also been some lows.

As of this week, I found out that I will not be able to secure the loan I was approved for last year. This was the loan that I included into my Estimated Aid for the entire 2 years. I raised the amount of $23,000 with this aid in mind. However, that anticipated aid will not be available.

The student loan offered to me by my financial aid office requires that I have a co-signer. As of now, I have no one to co-sign for me, and my family is in no position to do this for me as well. Therefore I am unable to take out the loan myself. This leaves me with a $12,800 gap in my tuition.

Because of my academics, I was awarded another $1500 scholarship this second year, which brings my remaining gap to $11,300. Of this $11,300, $4,000 is DUE IMMEDIATELY. If not, then I will be forced to leave film school.

My family has done all that they can to contribute. I have done all that I know how to do. I’ve meet with the scholarship committee at my school, talked with the financial aid department, and spoke with their loan officer.

As a result, I have been granted a 1 week extension to come up with the $4000. This gives me until Friday, September 26th to raise the money.

In addition, my school does not have payment plans. I was informed of this at the same time I was told that I could not obtain the loan. This is something that my school is working to rectify, however this is where the situation currently lies.

I am asking that you please help me once again to raise this immediate amount of $4000, so that I may continue to pursue this dream.

Here's how you can donate:

100 people give $40.00
Or 50 people give $80.00
Or 25 people give $160.00

As you know, my last campaign was an All-or-nothing campaign. I have decided not to do that this time for two reasons. First, I previously opted for an All-or-nothing campaign because I wanted to build trust and credibility with you.

Since then, I hope that my record of transparency, good grades, and the screening of my first film have proved my sincere dedication and integrity to you.

Secondly, an All-or-nothing campaign requires that the campaign end on a specific date. I plan to use a Personal campaign so that it may remain open after September 26th, and allow those of you who wish to continue to give, to do so.

Your gifts that come in after September 26th will be applied the final amount of $7,300, which will be left over after the $4,000 has been subtracted from my $11,300 gap.

No one makes it alone. You have taught me this. I ask that you now continue with me, and help me finish this journey. We can do more together.

Donate now to Erica Goes to Film School: Continued.

Thank you for your continued support!

TESTIMONIALS

Brad Gyoni
Professor, TFA

“Erica is very sharp and focused. Although she is very organized and good at left brain stuff, she also comes up with some pretty subversive and crazy ideas. She seldom drops the ball in terms of production management. Her maturity not only helped us stay on course but served as a model for others, who valued the example she set and learned to follow it in terms of communicating effectively, delegating and taking the high road when it comes to diplomatic communication. Watch this one, she’s going places!”

Carleton Avery
Father, Chicago, IL

"As my daughter, there is no one more trustworthy and committed to her dreams than Erica. I also appreciate Erica's honesty and integrity as a person who desires to have a real impact on her world and those around her in a positive way. Erica will not disappoint anyone who does decide to support her efforts to attend college."
